Oh, well all I can say is - I'm really full! We had an incredible assortment on different foods. Having a combination Indian/American Christmas is always a very interesting thing. We have some awesome traditions. We play a cheap gift exchange game, sing the 12 Days of Christmas, have someone dress up as Santa but ALSO have a ton of Indian food and Indian sweets. Its really nice! I didn't upload my pictures yet but I'll show them off soon :)

Now that Christmas is over the pressure is on to start thinking of some New Years Resolutions (and make some plans) . I haven't put to much thought to it yet but I'm working on it (I'll keep you posted). I don't want to do anything crazy for new years. No city, no bars, no partying- just good old relaxing!!

Updates on Life

So finally I'm cozy in bed watching Jay Leno (halarious man) and I'm ready to fill you all in on my life. I had to stop writing towards the end of the summer because a. I'm lazy b. So much stuff with my internship was going on c. School started. School this semester was ridiculous. I decided to add a minor in healthcare managment which means my life is going to be over because I have to take a bajillion classes.

In other GREAT news, I'm starting Operation Smile at Towson this upcoming Spring! So very excited for this project to be coming to my campus. OS raises money for re-constructive surgery for kids with cleft pallets and cleft lips and other health related surgeries. It's a great cause and I'm hoping its HUGE at TU!

Hot Spot Monday: New Hope, Pennsylvania

Last night I got to enjoy a wonderful 4th of July dinner in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Absolutly adorable. Its a very small town with tons of great vintage shops and design stores. Surrounded by fantastic resturants, the town is home to some of the wealthiest people. They've turned small homes in the town into resturants; so cute!

Its raining its pouring- and its humid! Eeek! Can't even whip out my fabulous rain boots because my legs would have a heat stroke. It's pretty crazy actually, I looked at the weather today and its going to rain every day for the next 10 days- except for Fourth of July! Pretty awesome if you ask me! Hot Spot Monday- Long Branch, New Jersey

What a great weekend! Sorry readers I've been so busy, don't worry I'm not abandoning you :) I've decided to start a new tradition on my blog called Hot Spot Monday. The past few weekends I've been enjoying new great places in the area (NY, NJ etc.). I'd love to share these place with you so you all can enjoy them as well!

Hot spot of the weekend is Long Branch, New Jersey. SOOO gorgeous! It's a beach in NJ, we didn't spend the day there lounging but we headed to LB at 6pm walked around the beach, went into the great shops and then went to a Seafood resturant for dinner.

New Project Ideas

The scrapbook is done!! Yesterday evening over my sister's graduation dinner I handed off my baby. My 1 year scrapbook project, finally finished. This past week I stayed up until 2am almost every night working on it. I'm very excited to start a new project. I'm making the Egg Carton Flower Pendant Light.

Gorgeous! And I think the purple color is making it all the morning appealing. Better start eating more eggs :) Is anyone else doing any cool projects this summer?

A long HOT exhausting day. Went to the highschool graduation and watched my sister walk. It was quite nice- just extremely hot!!!! The first 95 degree day without rain. Summer is all systems go.

On another note, a very sad day. The deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett have shocked everyone. Farrah Fawcett has been sick for quite some time but her talent will linger on forever.

Michael Jackson was recently trying to make a come back and his death was extremely unexpected. May the King of Pop and Charlie's Angel rest in peace.

A short post today- my heads really hurting and im super sleepy! This heat is just kickin my butt! I promise tomrrow will be bigger and better.

Monday Madness

Oh today was Monday Madness at it's best. Worked all morning, then printed a zillion labels for a party we were hired for. Then had some family friends over for dinner...busy night! I forgot to mention that I have two new additions to my family; Mr & Mrs Fish, I'm still trying to think of creative names for them. I'm pretty sure that Mrs. Fish is preggers. Oh gosh, don't know if I have time to deal with baby fishies. I will get a picture up of them as soon as I get a free minute.

Something about getting through Monday makes me want to reward myself. It is the first day of the week- usually seems the longest and is just a pain in the you know what. If I had a zillion dollars this is what I would be rewarding myself with...

I just wrapped up my father's day gift and made a card. I don't believe in buying cards. The way I see it, all occasions that require a card are just another reason to get crafty! Usually my gifts consist of something small but meaningful- my dad isn't the kind of guy who wants me to spend a kajillion dollars on him!

Once in a blue moon, after an exceptionally stressful week, lots of errands and many things to do- these holidays can be forgotten. Sometimes, its impossible to figure out what gift to give! For those of you who are in a pickle, I have for you- Father's Day to the Rescue!

Crafty Weekend

Le Poisson Rouge in NYC

Went out to eat last night in the city at Pesce Pasta. Mmm..has Linguini al Pesto and ate some of my friends Gnoochi in red sauce. Tres Magnifique! Then we walked around the city and went to Grey Dog for tea with my friends. It really is one of the cutest places ever, I love the overall atmosphere...

The had a little station for your tea and coffee and it was the most adorable thing ever! They even had little dog treats.

After this we walked back to Marisa's dorm at University Court On our way we passed by a venue called Le Poisson Rouge . It looked super awesome. I haven't heard of very many of the bands that play at this venue but when I snuck a peek inside there was a huge fish tank that was hanging from the ceiling. Something definitely worth checking out. Hopefully I'll make it over there sometime soon!

I love Preston Bailey. There, I said it. For those of you who don't know Preston Bailey, he is one of the most high end wedding planners in NYC. To say his work is fabulous would be a HUGE understatement. Here's why...

And another week begins

This was a pretty nice weekend, overall. Unfortunatly lots of rain but Mr.Sun did decide to make an appearance today. My family and I headed over to South Street SeaPort which is my favorite part of New York City. If you've never been, its time. The summer is the BEST season to hang out there. It took us almost a half hour to find parking, let alone an hour and half in the Holland Tunnel to get there, so I highly suggest leaving early and using the parking garages which should be no more then $15.00. Let me start by saying that the seaport is beautiful! You can see the Manhattan Bridge, tons of skycrapers and its right on the water. The general aura of the area is just perfect. Theres a variety of great seafood and Italian resturants. Last summer when I went I ate at Il Porto which was delicious! Aside from the great food theres a huge 3-story mall, lots of outdoor stores where they sell little trinkets, and many different street performers. For those of you who are from California and have ever visited Santa Monica, it's the same kind of thing. My dad, sister and I watched a magic show, which was pretty awesome! Its the perfect place for a day trip during the summer time- and we all love those!

Another eventful moment of the weekend was my sisters car accident. She's fine and it wasn't her fault, but the poor Acura is now missing a tailight and some of the bumper and some girl is in a LOT of trouble with her parents for poor driving.

Other then that the weekend was full of lots of relaxing. I'm both looking forward to and nervous about the week ahead of me. Here is the things I'd really like to accomplish:
-Finish The Alchemist
-Lots, lots, lots of work for The Finishing Touch, including meeting up with a bunch of photographers and florists in the city
-Really work on the scrapbook-hopefully finish it up
-Make a magazine rack for my apartment
-Sift through the sale boxes at Urban Outfitters
-Lots of hanging out time with Kruti (my best friend who just got home tonight from Chicago)
-Figure out if I'm doing a magic lesson with my dad for Father's Day
-Go to the park and read

And lastly...
-Take on another summer project.

Tonight I went to coffee with Sam when we both decided that our usual Starbucks fix just wasn't going to cut it. We decided it was a night for adventure. Low and behold we ended up at her house playing video games and watching Sex and the City. I assure you this is the farthest from both of our expectations of an "adventure" but what can we do...we're in Livingston, NJ.

Over coffee she told me an extrememly interesting story about work (she's a waitress at a resturant called Paparrazi). She met the most interesting british 40 year old man that she completely forgot to charge another man for his $30.00 dinner. She was smitten by him! Mystery man got to talking with Sam about Italy (where Sam is studying abroad in the fall) and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Sam, whose a huge coffee addict learned about Ristretto, a type of expresso that's only made in Italy. Sam described this man as one who was so incredibly in touch with his tastes. What I mean is that he described the spices of his penne as complimenting the taste of his wines, again- she was smitten!

Later Myster Man told Sam about the wonderful experiances of wine tasting he had while he was in Tuscony. He said to her exactly this "Wine tasting isn't the same things as tasting wine." He said you can go and drink different wines with your friends and taste them, but when you go wine tasting it must be done properly, at an orchard! Ofcourse at this point Sam was head over heels. Mystery Man must have felt a little zing of his own with Sam otherwise she wouldn't have gotten this wonderful $20.00 tip...

How great is that? As if she wasn't already in love this just put her over the edge!

After this story Sam and I ventured off to Riker Hill Art Park where we read some more of I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell. I entertained Sam with some of Tucker's sex, shit, and crazy party stories- I'm telling you, get this book! Sam decided to climb the sculpture in the park and I bailed out half way!

I'm pretty sure this was panic mode, she got up but didn't exactly know how to get down.

Anyways, Father's Day is around the corner. I have gotten my dad the stupidest gifts in the past. Until the age of 8 I used to wrap up ties that were already in his closet and regift them to him. It was cute when I was 8, but now I'm 20, not so cute. My dad mentioned to me he wants to take a 'Learn to do Magic' class. I'm hoping I can find one in the area and sign us up together. Any other crafty & creative suggestions?

In other news, today I found some time to surf the Urban Outfitters website for things for me new apartment!! I can't wait to have a place of my own finally. 2 years of living in dorms is far more then enough. I found this great piece for a great bargain ($8.00)

Also I've read about 200 pages of Tucker Max's book, I Hope they Serve Beer in Hell. And I'm encouraging it more now then before- get a copy! I completely disagree with the way he behaves, his rambunctious excursions and his overall personality but to say the least it is an incredibly great summer read. There are more then a few stories in that book that are hilarious to the point that I had a serious stomachache after reading them! After I finish it, hopefully tonight, I'm moving on to The Alchemist. While I'm reading it I will probably be able to enlighten you once again with my wise words!! Lazy Monday Shananigans

Hey everyone!

Just enjoying a lazy Monday...haven't had one of these in a VERY long time. Sam came by with my birthday gifts today- 2 of the books on my short (but growing) summer 2009 reading list. She bought me a copy of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell by Tucker Max and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Today I started reading the Tucker Max book which to say the least is really incredible. I recommend it to any girl whose ever liked an asshole in her life (I think that's just about all of us). I've only had the book for about an hour and half and I'm already 75 pages in! It's great- a good summer read. I'm so excited to read the Alchemist also!

Today I came across this post from Galadarling's Blog and think you everyone will appreciate it! It's a list of fun things that are happening in NYC this summer...Check it out! You will be able to find me at Jalopy Theatre this Wednesday night with Samantha and the Ringling Brother's Circus on Saturday, June 20th! I have to take advantage of all the wonderful things NYC has to give before I'm shipped of to Towson!

Anyways, this summer I also want to educate myself on fine Wine's! There is a huge wine culture that I don't know much about. Franzia (boxed wine) and me really need to part ways for the rest of my college career!! And as I've recently visited Napa Valley I'm all the more inclined to learn about wine! So hopefully I can make that happen.

Birthday Weekend!

Hello blog readers!
I'm very sorry that I have been sooo m.i.a. for the past few days. Between my birthday party on friday night, working a wedding in the city all day saturday, and my acutal birthday yesterday I just couldn't seem time to sit down and write! So again- I'm extremely sorry! But...

For starters, my birthday party on Friday night with Erin (one of my best friends from college) was FANTABULOUS! It was at the Cosmic Cantina on 3rd and 13th. Here's what some of my night looked like :)

All my bestest friends were there minus a few (Kru, Becky & Leigh) who were all busy with their crazy shananigans. There were lots of great drinks, dancing, and socializing. Couldn't have asked for a better way to celerbrate. Then on Satruday I worked all day at a wedding in NYC. It was my first sucessful hangover till about 9:00pm...Awesome...But I must say working in the wedding industry is extremely rewarding and at the end of the day you feel very accomplished. So all in all it wans't too bad!

Finally yesterday was the big 2-0. To be quite frank I'm not the biggest fan of birthdays. There are always high expectations so an unusually high chance of disappointment. You never know who won't remember and the suspense, for me, is unbearable! But fortunatly everyone I care about remembered and it was an overall success. I just hung around with the family all day, Becky brough me flowers and took me out for icecream (cotton candy + gummy bears..YUM) and then I went to Bahama Breeze with the family. Came home and watched Inside Planet Earth. A+ Birthday!!

Hey everyone!

Today as I did some reading and checked my homepage, CNN I came across multiple articles about Obama's speech from Cairo earlier today. His main purpose was is to ease the tension between US & Muslim's and make it clear that we will find a way to peacefully live in this world together.

Shortly after I was checking up on my fellow bloggers I saw that Style & Substance posted an amazing Dalai Lama quote on her tumblr a while back...

I am someone who follows no religion but a belief in a super power that allows each of us to conjointly live on the Earth-mostly in peace. Because of my families history (both my parents being Hindu) I have found myself praying on several occasions, even though, I do not consider myself religious. I have decided as a human being who was placed here it is my duty to remain kind. Kindness is not something that should be done from time to time, rather an obligation to the Earth for being allowed to breath its fresh air, sit in its luscious green grass, and enjoy everything it has given us.

When I talk about kindness I don't mean always being nice to everyone and getting along with the whole entire world. Because lets face it- its far beyond impossible! Everyone has their enemies, their dislikes, and their problems. In my previous post I talk about how important it is to not get sucked into their ugly connotations... But as a human being it is each person duty to remain kind. It can be the simplest of actions- hold the door, smile at a stranger, help someone old with their groceries...you get the point. Just do it.

Hope you enjoyed today's post! Its getting late so I'm keeping it short and simple :) Tomorrow night is my birthday party in NYC at the Cosmic Cantina! I'm super excited. Hello everyone! Welcome to my first REAL post!

So today I spent quite a bit of time making my blogalicious all fancy shmancy. And because I have decided that I'm "bringing back purple" (people just don't wear purple as much as they should) I have chosen this as my font color- as a sort of promotion. There are a few blogs that I have been consistently keeping myself updated with like Marisa's, The Neon Tea Party and GalaDarling's, GalaDarling (definitely check these out). I have decided that I'm going to make my blog about important things that I come across in my readings and day-to-day life and how they relate to general life- mine and yours. All types of sillyness is going on in my life right now. And I believe that this short passage that I read on Think, Simple, Now really turned my day around...

"I have developed a habit of not letting outside circumstances consume me. I have learned in the past that the events in your life do not determine the course of your life. Rather, it is your reaction to those events that will determine the quality of your life, and your life direction. In other words, it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to what happens to you."

From a personal standpoint this really hits home. The past few weeks I've been super stressed about many of the different events taking place in my life. Between moving back home from college for the next 3 months, organizing weddings all summer, and other crazy shananigans I've felt time after time its close to impossible keeping my head on straight. I find myself getting so deeply involved in minor problems that I lose track of the things that really matter to me- and that's VERY scary! I have finally stepped back and decided to accept that fact that shit happens. Shit happens and life goes on.

As they say- "don't sweat the small stuff". When something bad happens to you, whether you throw a temper tantrum or tell yourself to simply move on- life will go on. No problem in the world can dictate the rest of your life. One of the biggest life lesson's that you can teach yourself is how to deal with the crazy shananigans life throws your way. Develop a system. Here are some things that I find helpful with my crazy shananigans are taking over:

-Talk to someone funny. Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine. Talking out your problem out loud with someone can sometimes make you realize how silly the whole thing is and can be the best way to move on.

-Talk to your best friends, but keep your advice limited. I talk to a very selective amount of people when I'm frazzled and my crazy shananigans have taken over my life. But I value these peoples opinions greatly and know that they will send me off in the right direction. I often find that taking advice from too many people just gets confusing. Everyone has their own very specific opinion, and after you've heard 10 or so you seem more frazzled and confused then you started off. So get advice- but good advice!

-Exercise. As one of the wisest of our time has stated "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't"- Elle Woods. Haha, just kidding. But really, exercises makes people happy. It all in the chemistry, I swear. Although it is a short term solution to a problem that is usually long term- at least its a solution!!

-Write it out. Start a journal. Write out everything you possibly need to write- no one has to ever read it. If you don't like writing on paper- write on your computer, that's what I did. I started a word document and called it journal. There's even a way to put passwords on it, just search 'Passwords' using the Paperclip man. If you don't feel like writing about your problem- just write in general. To be honest, blogging is a type of therapy in and of itself- write about anything at all!

-Start a long term project. Distraction, distraction, distraction. When I was going through the biggest crisis my life had seen in a while (super high levels of shananigans) I took on the project of making my sister, Shaina, who is a senior in high school, a scrapbook of her life. This scrapbook is going to be a gift for graduation. While I'm working on it, I get so involved that my mind is on nothing but the scrapbook and my crazy shananigans seem hundreds of miles away.

I hope this helps anyone who comes across crazy shananigans. And to reiterate it again - "It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to what happens to you." So don't get pissed- save the drama, tears, anger and just get over it!

Hey! This is my first blog, inspiration: Marisa. I think this would be a great way to document my summer and just write about some cool stuff thats been on my mind. Right now I'm going to take a quick break to set it up (colors & all) and then I'll see where this takes me :)
